Each year in the DD program, you get a notice (like a letter), that says what your budget will be. The notice tells you how Medicaid came up with your budget amount. By reading the notice, you should be able to figure out if the assessor got something wrong about you. You should also be able to figure out if your budget is enough. And you should be able to figure out how to ask for a higher budget, and how to get help with that.
Medicaid has new notices they want to use. You should read them over and see whether they make sense to you. You should let Medicaid know if they make sense to you. If you have anything to say about the notices, you should let Medicaid know.
There are a lot of new notices to look at. There are five groups of them. These notices might change. For example, do not count on keeping your old budget after the new system starts this summer. As far as we know, the notices are only in English.
Budget notices: These tell you what your new budget will be. Some of these say that you may be able to keep your old budget after the new system starts this summer. This is not approved yet. So do not count on keeping your old budget after you get a new one.
Verification notices: These tell you about qualifying for a higher budget because of medical needs of behaviors.
Change in condition notices: These tell you whether you get a new assessment because something changed in your life.
Denial notices: These tell you that you were denied for DD services.
Other notices: These are about other things that can come up.
There are three ways you can let Medicaid know what you think:
